A good friend of mine recently dyed her hair a fiery copper hue, and while I think she’s never looked better, she told me she’s struggling to figure out what colors look good on her. Aside from the obvious neutrals, I’ve found that there’s one shade that is chicness incarnate on every single redhead on the planet.
You absolutely can’t go wrong with emerald green! Redhead celebs have been proving it for years–remember the stunning Proenza Schouler gown Amy Adams wore to the 2008 Oscars? Or Marcia Cross’s full-skirted number from the 2005 Emmys? Or practically everything Julianne Moore has ever worn?
Here’s why it works: Red and green are complimentary colors (ie, they sit across from each other on the color wheel), so they bring out the best tones in one another. Redheads also tend to have fair skin, and a rich shade of emerald can help highlight that dewy glow, instead of washing you out, like a lot of other colors can. Wearing green will also show the world that you love your red hair, that it’s a feature that deserves to be flaunted instead of tucked back in a ponytail (notice how most of the ladies above are letting their gorgeous locks flow freely??). In short: If you’re a redhead, you’ve gotta get yourself an emerald green dress!

I am a redhead, although I’m getting more platinum every day. Emerald green has always been my color of choice, but it’s hard to find sometimes.
Another good choice is turquoise. That seems to make the red pop. I always have gotten compliments when I wore turquoise, a light yellow, or a medium brown.

I love redheads. I know, many people don’t, but I think redheads are super sexy. My love has auburn hair and very light skin, which I find gorgeous and attractive. Being of Italian descent red heads are rare. I love how striking red hair looks. I used to colour my hair when I was younger and it was fire engine red. I mean red, red, like primary red. Some people really disliked it, others found it interesting and beautiful. I currently have dark hair, but am considering some reddish highlights to give my hair a little umph. XO

I have long red hair, green eyes and very fair skin. My favorite color and the one I look best in is Emerald green of course, but pretty much all shades of green work well too. Turquoise is another good choice, royal blue, purple looks great, a beautiful reddish brown and you can never go wrong with that sexy black dress. Even white and off white look nice as well. The colors I definitely can never wear…..PINK, ORANGE,GRAY. However, given there are a gazillion different shades of red hair color combined with so many different skin tones, I suppose the prettiest color for any particular redhead is whatever makes HER feel beautiful.
